Fix Broken Zipper With Fork

Have a broken zipper? Don’t send it to the tailor yet. Sometimes, all it takes is a fork.

Slide the zipper head onto the middle prongs of a fork, teeth facing up. Lay both sides of the zipper flat, align them carefully, then slowly feed the teeth back into the slider. Once both sides are in, pull the zipper gently. If it moves smoothly, the problem’s solved.

This works because the fork holds the zipper slider perfectly straight. Zippers fail when teeth enter unevenly. The fork removes hand wobble, keeps the angle correct, and lets the teeth re engage evenly. Simple alignment. No magic.
