Bought tofu but didn’t use the whole pack? Don’t leave the rest sitting in its torn packaging. That’s how it dries out, absorbs fridge smell, and spoils faster.
Steps:
- Place the leftover tofu in a clean airtight container.
- Add a small pinch of salt together with the tofu inside the container.
- Cover it fully with cooled boiled water or fresh cold water.
- Seal the container and store it in the fridge. For best results, change the water daily and use it within a few days.
Why this works?
This works because tofu needs moisture to keep its texture. Keeping it submerged helps reduce exposure to air, while clean water helps keep it fresher for longer. But don’t gamble with spoiled tofu. If it smells sour, feels slimy, or changes color, throw it away.
