Keep Plants Watered While You’re Away

Keep Plants Watered While You’re Away

Going away for a week and worried your plant will dry out? Don’t just flood the soil before leaving. Make a simple & easy DIY slow-drip watering bottle instead.

Place a balloon over the mouth of a plastic bottle, then cut an opening at the bottom of the bottle. Secure a wooden stick to the side of the bottle with double-sided tape. Turn the bottle upside down, stick it into the soil, and fill it with water through the opening. Then poke a tiny hole in the balloon with a needle.

The water will drip out slowly instead of pouring all at once. This works because the tiny hole controls the water flow, letting the plant receive moisture gradually over time. The smaller the hole, the slower the drip.
