Why Some People Sweat A Lot?

Sweating is our body’s natural respond when our body did some exercise and hot weather. However, some people have some different reasons on why they are sweating. Some people sweat a lot when run in some distance while some people has few drop of sweat while running in the same distance.

According to health specialist, human release the sweat to control their body temperature. Sweating is used by our body to cool down our body temperature due to evaporation.

1. Hyperhidrosis

Sweating while in a cold room? You may experience hyperhidrosis, excessive sweating disorders. People with hyperhidrosis will sweat without the need to cool the body.

Hyperhidrosis sometimes occurs due to hereditary factors in the family, or indicates a fundamental problem (infection, heart problems, overactive thyroid, even cancer) which may also be caused by overactive nerves.

If you experience this condition, switch from deodorant to antiperspirant. The doctor may also consider other medicines or even surgery.

2. Overactive Thyroid

If you can’t stand the heat and sweat immediately, you may have an overactive thyroid, such as hyperthyroidism.

“One of the most common symptoms of hyperthyroidism is heat intolerance,” said Jonathan Arend, M.D., an internist at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. “High levels of thyroid hormone make an increase in energy production, higher body temperature, and a lot of sweat,” added David Weissman, M.D., a primary care doctor who practices via the LiveHealth Online telehealth application.

Other signs of overactive thyroid are fast heart rate, irregular heart rhythm, high blood pressure, and weight loss for no apparent reason. But the good news, hyperthyroidism is easily diagnosed and treated.

3. Special Diet

Consuming certain foods and medications when dieting can eventually make you sweat because of thermogenic effects (diet drugs that cause an increase in the use of calories to produce heat, without having to exercise).

There are several types of food that have a strong impact on your digestion. Make sure you don’t consume too much spicy food, caffeine, or alcohol before excessive sweating appears. No exception, curries that contain chemicals called capsaicin. This substance is called being able to fool your brain into thinking that your body temperature is rising. 4. Medication Factors

5. Hypoglycemia

If you have diabetes and feel restless, dizzy, and sweaty, you may experience hypoglycemia, or a decrease in blood sugar levels.

When your body tries to deal with the stress of this situation, your sweat glands become overreactive, making you sweat more, even when the weather isn’t hot.

In the short term, glucose tablets or drinking fruit juice can help increase blood sugar levels. But untreated diabetes hypoglycemia can trigger seizures and even cause loss of consciousness.

6. Diabetes

People with diabetes may be susceptible to all the conditions mentioned above, which makes them sweat excessively.

This can be caused by low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), damage to the nervous system related to diabetes, or neuropathy, all of which produce stimulation of the sweat glands.

7. Stress and Anxiety

Excessive sweating before the first date or an important interview can be your body’s response to stress and anxiety.

“Increased anxiety causes an increase in heart rate, blood pressure, and respiratory rate, which in turn increases body temperature. When the body heats up, you will automatically sweat more,” he explained.

Simple stress reduction techniques, such as meditation and yoga, can relieve anxiety, Weissman said.

8. Sign of Cancer

Night sweats, often the cause is anxiety, stress, and sleep problems. But in rare cases, it can be a sign of cancer such as lymphoma, leukemia, kidney, and thyroid cancer.

Just as your body heats up when fighting infection, your immune system seeks to overcome other threats including cancer. If you experience night sweats, are routine, and are accompanied by other symptoms (weight loss or unexplained fever), make an appointment with your doctor immediately.

Solution of Excessive Sweating 

Handling of excessive sweating is generally done according to the underlying causes. This can be done in the following ways:

  • Antiperspirants to control sweat. Use an antiperspirant containing 10-20 percent hexahydrate aluminum chloride. Antiperspirants can also be used on legs.
  • If possible, wear open footwear as often as possible. When wearing shoes, choose shoes made from leather or natural materials that allow smooth air circulation. Dry shoes after wearing.
  • Provision of drugs to stop the work of sweat glands.
  • Inject Botox to temporarily block the sweat triggers nerves.
  • Surgery to turn off nerves that cause excessive sweating. This operation may be applied to people with hyperthyroidism who have hyperhidrosis. Or if other treatment methods do not produce the expected results.
