Not sure if an egg is still good? Don’t crack it and risk ruining your food.
Fill a glass or bowl with water, then gently drop the egg inside. If it sinks and lies flat, it’s fresh. If it sinks but stands upright, it’s older but may still be usable. If it floats, better throw it away.
Why this works?
This works because eggs have a tiny air pocket inside. As the egg gets older, more air enters through the shell, making it lighter and more likely to float. Simple water test. No guessing.
